Ten 33c California Stamps
Issued: September 8, 2000
Scott Catalog #3438

10 Mint, unused postage stamps with original gum as issued by the Post Office. These stamps are genuine and valid to use as postage for current mailing. Be sure to use enough total postage to meet the current postal rate for the item you are mailing.

Great for special mailings like weddings, birthdays, valentines, and events. Also good to use for scrapbooking or displaying in a small picture frame. It's a miniature work of art.

About this stamp:
A Mexican province in 1822. American leaders, with a vision of the U.S. stretching from the Atlantic to the Pacific, offered to buy the land from their southern neighbor. Mexico declined, and the two countries went to war in 1846. U.S. victory in 1848 led Mexico to surrender its claim to California. The population explosion that resulted from the gold rush helped California become a state in 1850.
