Today it is customary for the bride and groom to cut the first piece of wedding cake, symbolizing their first task together as husband and wife. The bride and groom feed one another from the first slice, signifying their commitment to provide for each other.

Though the wedding cake has evolved from a loaf of bread to a mult-tiered work of art, it has kept its tradition of good fortune for the newlywed couple.

The U.S.P.S. has been issuing Wedding stamps since 2004. The stamps always feature images of love, romance, and wedding traditions. These include bouquets, hearts, rings, and cakes.

The wedding cake stamp was first introduced in 2009 as part of the Weddings Series. The 2015 issue is the sixth stamp to feature the design. The stamp was issued with a new denomination each year to meet the raising postage rates. The 2015 issue is the first Forever stamp in the series. Instead of the denomination, it says “Two Ounce,” the rate for wedding invitations and other oversize cards.

Use these beautiful Unused postage stamps for mailing Wedding Invitations, Save the Date, Bridal Showers and Birthday Cards. They are valid to use as postage as long as you use enough postage to meet the current postage rates.

This stamp is no longer available at your local post office.
