This stamp is from the Classic Collection Series, which showcased the art of twenty American illustrators of magazines, posters, books, and advertisements. Frederic Remington (1861-1909) romanticized the American cowboy even as he recorded the end of the Old West in paintings and magazine illustrations. He served as an artist and correspondent in Cuba during the Spanish-American War, and was also noted for his bronze sculptures.
