About this stamp:
This stamp is from the Four Centuries of American Art Series, which showcased the art of twenty of the most important and famous works of art produced in the last 400 years. The Freake Limner (17th c.) takes his name from the subject of this painting, Mrs. Elizabeth Freake and Baby Mary, ca. 1671-1674. They express pride in family and genealogy, while the colorful details of clothing and jewelry reflect a certain stature in colonial Boston.
