About this stamp:
The image for this stamp is from the Italian artist Raphael's "School of Athens" in the Vatican. Raphael gave Heraclitus the features of Michelangelo. The stamp is part of the “Famous Works of Art” series, issued to mark the 100th anniversary of the Universal Postal Union. The eight stamps feature the theme of writing and reading letters. The design of each stamp was taken from paintings done by international artists.
